A Day for 'firsts"

So....think that Isabella and I are on the road to recovery. When we got Isabella last week, in Guatemala, she had a bit of a runny nose and was playing grab ears. We ended up taking her to the Pediatrician in Guatemala and found out that she had an ear infection. Then on Wednesday, last week, her Guatemalan 'gunk' found me. Luckily, it didn't really get too bad on me until we were back home in Stokesdale, safe and sound.

Isabella is really doing good. And had some 'firsts' yesterday. She got her first haircut, her bangs were really long. Notice, she was asleep when the trim started, but woke up and smiled the entire time. We also made our first trip to our Pediatrician. And again, she laughed almost the entire time. Bella is up to 16 lbs and 12 ozs. We also went to Target, Pampers flee in a hurry!

She loves pasta mixed with sweet potatoes and apples....ewwwwww... But, if it works for her. And stewed potatoes...she is truly going to be a country girl. She is also exploring Cheerios, with the dog. She really loves TJ..and he loves her too! He makes every step we take. Thats the most he has moved in 7 years. He sleeps better at night that Bella, lol.

Bella is such a joy to have around. Has a great personality....but can go from 0 to cranky in 10 secs if she is hungry or her diaper is wet. Loves Barney and VH1. We can't wait till it gets a bit warmer so that we can get outside and ride around on the golf cart. She loves to ride and didn't even mind her first exposure to the carseat.

We are finally home!!! What a week it was. Here's just a few highlights of our journey down, during, and coming home. Isabella is such a sweet girl. Never shed a tear on the flight back from Guatemala..or during our 6 hr layover in ATL....and not even on the flight back to Greensboro..on Saturday morning about 1am. And she was recovering from an ear infection/cold. More details to follow....

Leaving in 4 days....

Wow...the days seem to be speeding by...and my list of 'to dos' is getting longer. We did start some of our packing, getting Isabellas stuff ready to go. Of course, I want to take everything. And Keith, the rational packer, keeps me on track as much as he can. But when he isn't looking, I stick something else in her suitcase of 'stuff'. Check out TJ....he loves to lay by the crib.

The car seats are put together and seated in their respective vehicles...just waiting for Isabella to try them out. The last item to put together will be the stroller. We'll probably wait on that on for a few more days. Still no food in the cabinets for Isabella. Not totally sure what she is eating in the way of solid food. That is on my list of questions to ask when we get down to Guatemala.

And our house is coming along....for those of you that haven't seen the latest photos, I stuck one in. Still quite a bit to go on that project. We had no rain for 6 mos. They started building the house and we have had rain it seems every other day.

Stay tuned........

Another Kodak Moment!

My friend, Lauren is in Guatemala visiting her little girl Isabelle(left), Isabella's Foster Sister. We hooked up via web cam today. The Foster Mom brought Isabella along so that I would be able to get a live peek of her. It was great! She was asleep at first, but woke up for her film debut. We had tried the web cam thing on an earlier date, but this attempt was by far the best! Lauren also made some pictures of the girls together...from the looks above, they are truly "drinkin" buddies. They both are in a very loving foster home.

Isabella is 8 Months Old Today

.....another month has passed and Isabella is still not with us. Maybe we will get that "PINK" Email on Monday or Tuesday...that will be the 3rd and 4th of the 1-4 Business Days that they typically send it out. Now that we are so very close to traveling, we have/are getting ready to do some of those things that will be needed for sure when we all get back home, getting the car seats in place and putting the stroller together. And I thought I had trouble deciding what to wear...I just didn't realize how difficult it would be to decide which outfit for Isabella to wear home. She has some of the most adorable outfits.

Keith and I were getting in a little bit of practice last night....we went out with 7 girls and parents... that are crazy about Miley Cyrus. Earlier in the week, a local radio station had been giving away a 4 pack of tickets to see her 3-D Movie, well I dialed in and won a 4 pack. That put me in the drawing for a pre-movie pizza party and fun for 10. Of course, all of the winners throughout the week were placed in the same drawing. And guess what? About lunch on Friday, I got the call that I had won. Of course, we had a blast and the girls did too. They had their faces painted, won t-shirts and cd's. And several were recorded for various radio spots that will be playing this weekend. They even got the VIP treatment, they were escorted into the theatre before anyone else and got the best seats in the house.
Well, its off to more shopping. I have a Babies R Us Gift Card that is just burnin' a hole in my pocket. And if its on sale....well you know how that goes!
